I came across this about a month ago. I am willing to give it a chance, but I am tempering my enthusiasm with the fact that this is not the Hammer of Cushing and Lee and the 1950′s through 1970′s.

If it wasn’t produced by Hammer I’d not give it a second glance, however I’m at least considering it at the moment.

To be fair the price is £2.99 so it may change slightly, but yes it feels just a bit steep.

I couldn’t agree more! There still needs to be some shocking/gory moments, but they’re so much more effective when used sparingly and framed in the right environment.

Ambiance and atmosphere beat in your face horror every time. In your face “horror” is really just a momentary shock. Atmosphere and ambiance create a mood of tension, a mood of fear, a mood of unwanted expectancy that is the bread and butter or real horror. Of course, I do think that some in your face horror, used properly and not overdone, is amazingly effective in horror.

Thanks. This was one of the very, very rare SK books I did not buy, not so much for the price but for the subject matter. But at $3.99 I can give it a go.
